How to avoid a cakey face

I have heard many of my friends complain that foundation makes there face look cakey, well foundation can make the face look cakey the idea of applying foundation is to make your skin look clear, smooth and glowing and not cakey, which reminds me of a famous quote "Women spend hours applying make up so that it does not look that they have applied make up". #howto #foundation #apply

PRIMER
To avoid the cakey look first of all use a primer before applying foundation,a primer preps your face for foundation by filling up the pores and smoothering out the skin,it also acts as a barrier between your skin and foundation.I recommend MAC Prep & Prime.

FOUNDATION
Many women make the mistake of opting for heavy or total cover foundations,I would recommend a foundation which is neither to heavy nor too light in order to avoid the caked up look my personal preference is MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation. Also avoid using too much foundation as that will definitely make the face look cakey and made up.

APPLICATION
While a lot of people use foundation brushes to apply foundation,I feel its better to apply it with a make up sponge as that absorbs the excess and also ensures a smooth application without any strokes.

POWDER
If you have oily skin you can apply face powder on top of foundation keeping in mind to not over do it just a mild whiff of powder is enough and if you have combination skin apply powder to the T-Zone,you can skip this step if you have dry skin.

SETTING SPRAY
This would be the final step, but its optional.A setting spray gives make up a just applied fresh look through the day, evening or night without your make up looking run down and face dull as the hours pass,MAC Fix+ works as a good setting spray/finishing mist.
