How to avoid a cakey face

I have heard many of my friends complain that foundation makes there face look cakey, well foundation can make the face look cakey the idea of applying foundation is to make your skin look clear, smooth and glowing and not cakey, which reminds me of a famous quote "Women spend hours applying make up so that it does not look that they have applied make up". #howto #foundation #apply

PRIMER
To avoid the cakey look first of all use a primer before applying foundation,a primer preps your face for foundation by filling up the pores and smoothering out the skin,it also acts as a barrier between your skin and foundation.I recommend MAC Prep & Prime.

FOUNDATION
Many women make the mistake of opting for heavy or total cover foundations,I would recommend a foundation which is neither to heavy nor too light in order to avoid the caked up look my personal preference is MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation. Also avoid using too much foundation as that will definitely make the face look cakey and made up.

APPLICATION
While a lot of people use foundation brushes to apply foundation,I feel its better to apply it with a make up sponge as that absorbs the excess and also ensures a smooth application without any strokes.

POWDER
If you have oily skin you can apply face powder on top of foundation keeping in mind to not over do it just a mild whiff of powder is enough and if you have combination skin apply powder to the T-Zone,you can skip this step if you have dry skin.

SETTING SPRAY
This would be the final step, but its optional.A setting spray gives make up a just applied fresh look through the day, evening or night without your make up looking run down and face dull as the hours pass,MAC Fix+ works as a good setting spray/finishing mist.

How to apply mascara

The Collins English Dictionary defines mascara as "a cosmetic substance for darkening, lengthening, curling, coloring, and thickening the eyelashes, applied with a brush or rod." The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) adds that mascara is occasionally used on the eyebrows as well. #makeuptips #howto #mascara

Mascara commonly used to enhance the eyes. It may darken, thicken, lengthen, and/or define the eyelashes. Normally in one of three forms—liquid, cake, or cream—the modern mascara product has various formulas; however, most contain the same basic components of pigments, oils, waxes, and preservatives. Well to apply mascara is an art when I started using mascara initially I always felt that its of no use because my lashes looked no different than they did without mascara, then a friend of mine a make up artist by profession let me in on a little secret. She showed me how to make my eyes pop with mascara.I will let you in on the lil secret as well " How to apply mascara like a pro"

When applying mascara
1) Curl your lashes properly with a good full eyelash curler like MAC.

2)Close your eyes and apply mascara from roots to tips

3)Now open your eyes and once again apply mascara from roots to tips

4)Do the same for lower lashes you can use clinique bottom lash mascara for this.

5)In case of clumps you can smooth them out by combing through your lashes with a mascara comb

6)Apply another coat of mascara.

Tip-The number of coats you apply depends on how much volume you want to create i usually go upto 3coats and as they say there is no such thing as too much mascara.

The mascara i recommend would be:-
1)Mac zoom lash for a more natural look.

2) Mac Haute & Naughty this has 2brushes one for length and the other for volume you can use both at once to give you those oh so long and dense lashes.

Make up tip for summers

Summers is that time of the year when make up in the day time
can be a bit OTT,but then again a real lady does not ,  I repeat does not step out of her house without fixing herself a little. So,my make up summer tip is to keep it simple no heavy foundations, highlighters, etc.Just a little bit of bb cream, mascara and a tinted lip balm,I would recommend the chubby stick by Clinique in one of the nude shades as it keeps the lips moist and pink without the overbearing effect of a lipstick, one can also opt for a lip stain like bene-tint easily available at any of the Sephora outlets. #makeup #howto

xoxo , will be back soon with how to make your lipstick stay :))
